Our Massage Therapists specialize in the therapeutic treatment and advancement of athletes. In addition to massage therapy, we offer fascial stretch therapy, cupping, functional movement screening, athletic taping, and concussion screening.

Alex Abbott, RMT

Alex is a former elite hockey player, and has since dedicated her career in the therapeutic treatment and advancement of athletes. 

Alex has worked as the head therapist for the Burlington Cougars Junior A Hockey Team, was a member of the therapy team at the IIHF World Junior Tournament, and provided care for the Rugby Canada Men's 15's during the World Cup qualifying matches.

Alex is an integral part of our team at SHIELD Performance, providing quality care for both our athletes and lifestyle fitness clients.

Prateek received his Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto and holds a Honours Degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University with distinction. His goal is to help patients return to their preferred activities and hobbies without limitations, whether that involves facilitating healing from an injury, managing daily aches and pains, improving performance, or preventing injuries.

 

As a former hockey captain, Prateek understands the impact of physical constraints on performance, and strives to achieve meaningful results for his patients.

 

He treats people of all ages and disciplines, from elite athletes to recreational athletes to the general population. He uses a combination of manual therapy, functional exercises, and Western medical acupuncture to treat musculoskeletal injuries and his background as a personal trainer helps guide his rehabilitation goals. He will create an individualized treatment program to help you recover.

Prateek Jhingan - Physiotherapist

Liam obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Strength and Conditioning from Neumann University. During his schooling he was also a member of the NCAA D3 hockey team.

 

After working for a year as an Athletic Therapist, Liam decided to further his education in Dublin, Ireland. Liam pursued a master’s degree in Physiotherapy at the University College Dublin.

 

Liam believes that a combination of manual therapy and exercise is key to a full recovery. He also believes that we must observe and treat the body entirely, not just the site of injury.

 

Liam is a specialist in exercise prescription to provide home exercise programs to speed up the healing process and prevent reinjury.
